The Boys and Girls Club of Cheyenne held its annual chili challenge fundraiser at the Archer Event Center on January 17th. This year's theme was "tailgating." It was a fun event and seemed well attended by a supportive community.
Each group participating in this year's event had booths decked out in tailgating themes. The booths featured various chilis, from a white bean chili to a delicious wild game concoction; one entry even had a brisket chili.
The cheerleading squads from East, Central, and South high schools provided lively entertainment. Even a group of boys and girls club kids was decked out in their cheerleading attire and performing alongside their older counterparts. Seeing the three high schools unite to support this worthwhile organization was excellent.
Everyone attending had the opportunity to pick their favorite chili from several entries, including local businesses and organizations and an entry from the Cheyenne City Council.
My favorite chili was from Uncle Fred's Catering. Their white bean chili was just amazing. Several city council members challenged me to get the rest of the Laramie County Commissioners to enter the competition next year. Challenge accepted. Well, it may be just me, but I will see what I can do to twist the arms of my county cohorts to participate next year. Lol.
