Albin EMS Fundraiser
Albin EMS Saturday, June 6, Sue and I were honored to attend the Albin EMS Fundraiser. What stood out to me is that in larger communities, lifesaving equipment is often taken for granted. Here in Albin, it exists because neighbors step up to support neighbors. This fundraiser is the primary way Albin EMS raises the funds needed to maintain and upgrade the equipment its volunteers rely on when every second counts. Thanks to the generosity of this community, they are better equ

Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Luncheon-Wyoming Governor Candidate Discussion
Sue and I attended today’s Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce luncheon, sponsored by the Wyoming Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association shared information about Alzheimer’s awareness and featured its Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraiser in October. Alzheimer’s disease is near and dear to both my wife's and my hearts. We have both lost loved ones to this terrible disease. Two years ago, my wife lost her dad, and I lost my grandma several years ago.

Laramie County Elected Officials Updates
The quarterly elected officials meeting was held in the Town of Burns, and it was a good opportunity to hear updates from Burns, Albin, Pine Bluffs, Cheyenne, and Laramie County. These meetings are always valuable because they give each community a chance to share what they are working on, what challenges they are facing, and where we can better support one another as elected officials. Burns has several local projects moving forward. The town recently completed drilling its

Met with Representatives from Vantage Data Centers
Had a very good meeting this week with representatives from Vantage Data Centers regarding their proposed project in Laramie County. I appreciated the opportunity to sit down one-on-one for an open, candid discussion about the project, community concerns, infrastructure, workforce needs, water use, and long-term impacts. A couple of the biggest concerns I continue to hear from the public are water usage and the potential impact on power rates. We spent a good amount of time o

LEADS Board Meeting on May 20, 2026
I attended the LEADS board meeting today, and one of the biggest topics of discussion was the ongoing debate over data centers and workforce housing projects in our community. One thing that really stood out to me was the extent of the misunderstanding about how these projects are actually reviewed and approved. Whether it’s a data center, workforce housing, annexation, or zoning change, these projects do not just “show up overnight.” There are layers of regulations, public h

Workforce Housing Public Meeting on May 1st
I attended the public meeting on May 1st at Afflerbach Elementary regarding the proposed workforce housing project in South Cheyenne. As a Laramie County Commissioner, I am still gathering information and have not made any decisions. This proposal will be presented to the County at a later date. The project, presented by Iron Guard Housing, would be a phased, temporary workforce housing campus with on-site services, private security, and connections to city water and sewer. T

Podcast - Data Centers and the Future of Cheyenne
I listened to a recent Wyoming Watch podcast discussing the future of data centers in Cheyenne, and I think it highlighted an important conversation our community needs to keep having. On one side, supporters of data center development pointed to several benefits: infrastructure improvements paid for by developers, new tax revenue, construction jobs, and Cheyenne’s growing role in technology and AI infrastructure. According to Cheyenne LEADS CEO Betsy Hale, the 12 currently o

Boys & Girls Club Back-A-Kid Breakfast
I attended the Back-A-Kid Breakfast on May 12, hosted by the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Wyoming at LCCC—an inspiring reminder of the power of community. A highlight was hearing from 15-year-old Orion Jean, whose Race to Kindness movement has inspired thousands across the country. He was named TIME’s Kid of the Year in 2021 and has led major initiatives, including collecting 500,000+ books, providing 100,000 meals, and launching a campaign to inspire 1 million acts of kind

Tallgrass Project Update
Last Friday, May 8, 2026, I met with representatives from Tallgrass Energy to get an update on the data center and power‑plant project south of town. As always, I went in with the questions many of you have been asking, so I can keep sharing clear, factual information with the community. Water was one of the main topics we discussed. I pressed them on concerns about aquifers, and they confirmed the project will draw its water from the Lance Aquifer — the deep aquifer already

Dispatch Awards Reflection
Had the chance to sit in on the Dispatch Awards tonight, and it really puts things back into perspective. You’re reminded that behind every award is a moment when someone relied on a dispatcher during one of the worst days of their life — and a calm voice stepped in to steady the chaos. I’ve worked with dispatch in the past, and I can tell you—these folks are the calm in the middle of chaos. When everything is going sideways, they’re the ones asking the right questions, getti

5th Annual Purple & Gold Legacy Foundation Benefit
Sue and I had a wonderful evening at the Purple and Gold Legacy Benefit held at the Pine Bluffs Community Center on Saturday, April 11th, 2026. It’s always good to see folks come together for something that truly makes a difference for our kids. The Purple and Gold Legacy Foundation’s purpose is to create funding for existing and potential Pine Bluffs youth organizations. This funding will provide opportunities for success and growth of the youth in Pine Bluffs. Since launchi

FFA Conference
Attending the final day of the 2026 Wyoming FFA Conference at the Archer Events Center, my family and I witnessed firsthand how the theme, Elevate, was lived out by the 1,760 young leaders in blue jackets—an impressive display of the promising future of agriculture and our communities. It was inspiring to see the energy, pride, and dedication these students bring. Programs like FFA are shaping the next generation by building leadership, a strong work ethic, and real-world ski

Month of the Military Child Celebration
Yesterday, April 7, 2026, was a wonderful day as we joyfully celebrated the Month of the Military Child here in Laramie County. Earlier, the Commissioners approved a resolution proclaiming April 2026 as the Month of the Military Child, following a reading of the proclamation by a member of our 4-H Extension Office. Later, at LCCC’s Pathfinder Building, I joined a well-attended event with 4-H youth and their families. Kids explored a Life Flight helicopter, fire trucks, and ot

Leadership Talk with Pine Bluffs High School Juniors
On March 31st, I met five outstanding juniors from Pine Bluffs through Junior Leadership of Laramie County. After introductions, we quickly discussed what County Commissioners do each day. More importantly, we stressed the value of continued learning. Whether in college, trade school, or by taking every chance to grow on the job, learning shouldn’t end after high school. Building on that, I also stressed that strong leadership starts with self-understanding. Developing emotio

Engaged Citizenship: Key Issues from the Laramie County Republican Party Convention
On Saturday, March 14, Sue and I attended the Laramie County Republican Party County Convention, where Republican delegates from across the county gathered to discuss party business and local issues. Conventions like this provide an important opportunity for citizens to share their perspectives, review bylaws, and discuss resolutions that may guide the party’s positions on key topics. Much of the day was spent reviewing and voting on updates to the LCGOP bylaws, as well as di

Honoring Laramie County’s Fire Authority Volunteers
I had a great evening on February 28, attending the Laramie County Fire Authority Volunteer Recognition Banquet at Little America. It’s hard to fully capture what 19,000 volunteer hours really means. That’s time away from family, work, and personal commitments—all given freely to protect the people of Laramie County. That kind of service says a lot about the character of these men and women. It was special to see volunteers recognized for 5, 10, and even 25 years of dedicatio

Dancing, Dialogue, and Community Spirit: Reflections from the Lincoln Day Social
On February 27, Sue and I had the pleasure of attending the Lincoln Day Social hosted by the Laramie County Republican Party at The Metropolitan Downtown, and I want to share what a terrific evening it was. From the moment we walked in, you could tell it was going to be a good night. The turnout was tremendous. The room was filled with neighbors, friends, ranchers, small business owners, and community leaders — all gathered together not just to support the Laramie County GOP,

Governor's Prayer Breakfast
Sue and I had the privilege of attending the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast on February 26 at Little America , and it was an inspiring morning. The event was well attended by state and local elected officials, business leaders, and community members from across Wyoming, all gathering in friendship, faith, and purpose. While it was wonderful to see so many familiar faces, it was Luke Bryan’s message , five-time Country Music Entertainer of the Year, that truly stayed with us. Thi

Treatment Court Graduation Triumph
On February 24, I had the privilege of attending a Treatment Court graduation that I won’t soon forget. This graduate had been in the program for 1,089 days — nearly three full years. Just think about that. Three years of showing up, doing the work, facing struggles, pushing through setbacks, and earning hard-fought triumphs along the way. The judge and staff spoke candidly about the journey. There were moments when they celebrated his progress, and there were moments when th
