Dispatch Awards Reflection

Had the chance to sit in on the Dispatch Awards tonight, and it really puts things back into perspective. You’re reminded that behind every award is a moment when someone relied on a dispatcher during one of the worst days of their life — and a calm voice stepped in to steady the chaos.

I’ve worked with dispatch in the past, and I can tell you—these folks are the calm in the middle of chaos. When everything is going sideways, they’re the ones asking the right questions, getting responders what they need, and sometimes walking callers through CPR or other life‑saving steps before help even arrives. Those moments matter. They save lives.

It was great seeing well‑earned recognition tonight—from high performers to Rookie of the Year. And seeing the families there was a powerful reminder that this job doesn’t just belong to the person wearing the headset.

Proud of this group. Well deserved.
