The Laramie County Commissioners attend and participate in numerous public boards that receive public funds as part of their duties. Examples include the Hospital Board, Airport Board, Recreation Planning and Advisory Board, Health Board, and Laramie County Planning Board.
As part of my preparation to serve you, the citizens of Laramie County, as your next commissioner, I will attend these various board meetings to understand their function and community needs. This month, I attended the Recreation and Planning Board. The commissioners who attend this board and other boards are organizations made up of wonderful volunteers who give their time and energies to benefit all. During this month's meeting, the Recreation and Planning Board members discussed various ideas to improve Clear Creek Park. In the last six penny tax election, Laramie County Voters approved funding for this project. Proposals from the board included upgrading playground equipment, adding a Pickleball Court, Corn Hole equipment, Basketball Court, and other upgrades to improve the look and feel of the park.
Community involvement is not just important, it's essential for the various boards to continue making positive impacts on the community as a whole. I have served on numerous boards throughout my adult life and understand firsthand how crucial they are to the lifeblood of Laramie County. Every board I have ever served on is constantly looking for new members to give of their time and talents. If you have a heart to serve, I urge you to seek out a community board and get involved. Your participation can truly make a difference.
