Community Fire Response Appreciation

Tuesday’s apartment fire near Dell Range was a powerful reminder of how much our community depends on the men and women who respond when things go wrong.
Thankfully, no one was injured, and that is not by accident. It took a coordinated response from Cheyenne Fire Rescue, Laramie County Fire Authority, Laramie County Fire District 1, the Wyoming Air National Guard fire crew, AMR, Cheyenne Police Department, the Laramie County Sheriff’s Office, traffic control personnel, investigators, and others working together under difficult conditions.
I also want to recognize the work of the Combined Communications Center. They are often behind the scenes, but they play a critical role in coordinating the entire response, getting the right agencies to the right place, and helping manage a fast-moving situation like this one.
With heavy fire, difficult access, high winds, traffic challenges, and a large construction site involved, this could have had a much different outcome. Because of the teamwork, training, communication, and professionalism of everyone involved, the fire was contained, and lives were protected.
Thank you to every firefighter, dispatcher, deputy, officer, medic, investigator, and support person who responded. Everyone working together made a difference, and our community is better because of it.
