When Things Go Wrong, People Pull Together

A lot of what happens in county government happens behind the scenes.

We recently had an issue with our fire paging system after work on a project damaged part of the system. Because it involved emergency communications, the priority was simple: keep our firefighters connected and keep the community safe.

Combined Communications, Emergency Management, County IT, Public Works, our fire districts, and outside technical resources all pulled together to put backup notifications in place and correct the problem quickly.

Each group involved has ideas about what we can learn from this. The next step is to get everyone together, talk through what worked and what could be improved, and decide what changes make sense going forward.

Things happen. What matters is that people respond quickly, work together, and keep the community protected.
