Dancing, Dialogue, and Community Spirit: Reflections from the Lincoln Day Social

On February 27, Sue and I had the pleasure of attending the Lincoln Day Social hosted by the Laramie County Republican Party at The Metropolitan Downtown, and I want to share what a terrific evening it was.

From the moment we walked in, you could tell it was going to be a good night. The turnout was tremendous. The room was filled with neighbors, friends, ranchers, small business owners, and community leaders — all gathered together not just to support the Laramie County GOP, but to spend time with one another. There were plenty of handshakes, hugs, and laughter. It felt less like a formal event and more like a gathering of folks who genuinely enjoy each other’s company.

We began with a relaxed cocktail hour, which gave everyone a chance to catch up and visit before the program started. One of the best parts of evenings like this is looking across the room and seeing conversations happening between people who might not otherwise cross paths. That’s how relationships are built, and it’s relationships that keep our local communities strong.

We then heard from Wyoming Speaker of the House Chip Neiman and Senate President Bo Biteman. They spoke candidly about the long days — and even longer nights — working through legislation and the state budget. More than once, they’ve deliberated into the wee hours of the morning, grabbed just a few hours of sleep, and come right back for another full day on the floor. They also shared how the work between the House and Senate is helping move the final budget closer to what Governor Gordon originally requested. It was encouraging to hear firsthand about the cooperation and commitment going into that process.

After the remarks, the music started, appetizers were enjoyed, and people stayed to visit — and yes, even do a little dancing. It was simply a good night spent with good people.

Events like the Lincoln Day Social matter. Not just because they support the party, but because they bring our community together. They give us time to reconnect with old friends, make new acquaintances, and remind ourselves that at the end of the day, we’re neighbors first.

Thank you to everyone who came out and to those who worked behind the scenes to make it happen. It was a great evening, and I’m grateful to be part of a community that shows up the way ours does.
