Laramie County Fair Pie Contest

I think I've found my new favorite pastime—sampling and judging the amazing pies entered in the Laramie County Fair Pie Contest. On Monday night, I, along with the rest of the Board of Commissioners, had a blast sampling four pies entered in the kids' division and 23 pies entered in the adult division. The entries ranged from a variety of fruit and cream pies to meat pies and even a cabbage and bacon pie. With an average of a 1oz sample to Judge, Commissioner Malm commented that we would be eating more than a pound of the scrumptious creations.
It was a tough duty, but we persevered and were able to choose a first place, second place, and third place winner in both categories. This year, the commissioners each pitched in $100.00 toward the prize pot to increase the number of entries. My waistline can attest to the success of this effort.
With the success of this year's contest, I'm already looking forward to next year's Laramie County Fair Pie Contest. The anticipation is high, and I can't wait to see what delicious creations will be entered.
By the way, I'll be back at the Fair on Wednesday night, this time to judge the Deviled Egg contest. I'm excited to see what unique twists and flavors the contestants will bring to this classic dish. I'll be sure to share the results with you.
