This post continues the information from my recent meetings with the various elected officials and county department heads.
In December, I had a good visit with Sheriff Kozak and several of his command staff. While there, I also had the opportunity to tour the Jail and see some changes made after he took office.
I was glad to see that the mental health unit I was building in the Jail before retiring is nearing completion. It was gratifying to have been a part of its inception, knowing that Sheriff Kozak and I share the same thoughts on the need for mental facilities in the Jail.
In every department I have visited while preparing to take office, I have strived to understand their needs and view them through the lens of a future commissioner.
Having spent over 27 years with the Sheriff’s Office in various command positions, I have a good grasp of public safety. I will use this knowledge to aid Sheriff Kozak in his mission to keep Laramie County safe.
