On Wednesday, February 12th, my wife and I attended the unique and time-honored annual Governor's Prayer Breakfast at Little America. This distinguished event, a tradition for over 70 years, was graced by The Honorable Ronn Jeffries as the Master of Ceremonies. The ballroom was filled with hundreds of attendees.
This year's guest speaker was Mr. Justin "The Big Pygmy" Wren. In all my years of attending various conferences and events where inspirational speakers shared their life experiences, I have never been impacted on such a personal and spiritual level as I was listening to Justin share his story. His journey from a victim of bullying in Texas to a renowned mixed martial arts fighter and his subsequent fall into addiction and redemption through helping others was genuinely moving. His foundation, Fight for the Forgotten, assists the marginalized people of this region by drilling wells for fresh drinking water and offering humanitarian services like health care and education opportunities.
There were prayers of gratitude and scripture readings throughout the event, which only added to the momentous occasion.
The event ended with the Cheyenne All-City Children's Chorus singing one of my wife's favorite hymns, Amazing Grace. The audience joined in on the third verse, and everyone had little finger lights to light up the darkened room. It was such a moving way to end the event.
I encourage anyone who wants to experience a touching and uplifting story to look him up on YouTube.
We want to thank Jenny Gordon and her dedicated team for their exceptional efforts in organizing this year's Governor's Prayer Breakfast. Their hard work and commitment made this event an unforgettable and enriching experience for all of us.
