On July 7th, the new Laramie County Senior Center finally opened its doors to the community.
On July 17th, I had the opportunity to join several other commissioners, Mayor Collins, and members of the public for a tour of the building.
It is an excellent addition to the community and will serve area seniors for many years to come.
The building boasts a full kitchen, a theater room, a conference room, a computer lab, workout equipment, and several rooms for activities such as yoga, tai chi, and bingo, making it a versatile and engaging space for our seniors.
The much-needed project was first discussed more than 13 years ago, but there was no room on the 6th penny tax ballot to include it.
However, in 2021, it made it on the ballot, and with a resounding 60% approval, the citizens of Laramie County made their voices heard, demonstrating their strong support for this important community project.
Although there have been a few bumps in the road, which caused a few delays during the final phases of construction, the new facility, now finally completed, was well worth the wait.
