May is National Military Appreciation Month, which is set aside each year to bring awareness and understanding to the challenges faced by active service members, veterans, and their families. Individuals from all branches of service hold a special place in my family's heart. Their sacrifice and that of their families ensure our country's safety and the freedoms we enjoy and cherish. Our son, Jake, spent more than a decade in the Navy and was deployed on the USS Wyoming; our Son-in-law Thomas has served in the Wyoming National Guard for 20 years, and we also have nephews who have served or are currently serving in various branches of the military. When you see an active or veteran service member, please thank them for all they have done for this country. With all the uncertainty in this world today, our military is vitally essential to our future.
