On November 12th, I attended a behavioral health meeting hosted by Laramie County Community Partnership. As commissioner, I will vote on many grant funding opportunities supporting Laramie County residents' health and well-being. Attending these informational meetings gives me a greater understanding of these vital community resources. This organization holds monthly meetings supplying information on various community programs, including gambling and substance abuse prevention, and the (CIT) Critical Incident Teams of the Cheyenne Police Department and Laramie Sheriff's Office, who respond to situations involving citizens experiencing a mental health crisis. Attendees included concerned citizens, LCCC and CRMC staff, local law enforcement, the County Attorney's Office, the County grants office, and mental health support groups. The keynote speaker for this month's meeting was Deputy County Attorney Brad Lund, who gave a presentation on emergency detentions of individuals experiencing a mental health crisis.
