Wyoming State Capitol's Nativity

On December 12th, I was honored to participate in the 4th annual Nativity Blessing at the state capitol.  I read a portion of the account of Jesus' birth from Luke 2:4-21 along with several other elected officials.

Father Seth Hostetler, Associate Pastor of St. Mary's Cathedral, and Pastor Nathan Winters, WY Family Alliance, shared words of hope and faith, stressing the need to trust in Christ Jesus. The St. Mary's Children's Choir performed several songs and, at the end of the event, led those gathered in a rendition of "Silent Night."

This year's event was dedicated to uniting all elected officials, city, county, state, and national. Steven Melia, the Wyoming State Capitol Nativity Blessings coordinator, stated, "Blessing for healing, unity, and cooperation to form a more perfect union in the spirit of our founding fathers of a nation of moral and virtuous citizens representative of our Constitutional Republic. As you perform your duties, I pray that you will receive and use all the wisdom that our Lord will bestow upon you. Jesus stated that he came to serve, not to be served. So, in your role as elected officials, may you serve with integrity and wisdom."

Thanks to Steven Melia, the elected officials, and all from St. Mary Cathedral for a moving ceremony blessing the capitol's nativity.

As we gather with family and friends this Christmas season, let us not forget what a wonderful gift we were given the night Jesus was born, for he truly is the reason for the season. Merry Christmas, everyone. May you have safe travels and wonderful moments shared with those you hold dear.
